The West Valley owners of a Dodge Charger were alarmed to discover that their vehicle had been stolen. They contacted the West Valley PD and reported the theft. A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

A short while later officers with the West Valley PD and the Salt Lake City Police Department began picking up the silent LoJack signal being broadcast from the stolen Charger with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. These officers lost the signal as the suspects became aware of increased police presence.
The suspects determined to quickly move to the other side of the Mountains to elude capture but there another officer, this time with the Tooele Police Department, began picking up the LoJack signal coming from the stolen Charger.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC in his patrol car, the Tooele PD officer tracked the Charger to the area of Oquirrh Avenue and 7th Street. The Charger was unoccupied when located but follow up investigation conducted by the police resulted in two suspects from West Valley being located and arrested.

The Charger was later released undamaged to the now very happy owners!

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Charger 9-years ago in California at the request of the first owner of the vehicle. The LoJack device remains dormant until awakened by the police entry as stolen. Following the recovery the cancellation it shuts off and goes back to its hibernation state.
