The owners of a 2006 Hummer H3 contacted the Merced Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence during the night. The Merced PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hummer.

Less than 15 minutes after the Hummer was entered into the stolen vehicle system an officer from the Merced PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hummer with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Hummer to a residential area in the 1700 block of Carol Avenue in Merced. The Hummer was found unoccupied and abandoned in front of a residence.

The Hummer was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in March 2006 at Penske Cadillac Hummer in Torrance, California.
