The owner of this Acura GS300 contacted the Fresno Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The Fresno PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

About three hours after the LoJack was activated, an investigator with CCATT, the Fresno PD Career Criminal Auto Theft Team, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigator tracked the Acura to an apartment complex near Chestnut and Butler avenues in southeast Fresno. The Acura was observed parked in a carport parking stall unoccupied.

Investigators initiated surveillance of the Acura. Over the next hour, a male and female adult were observed in and about the Acura several times. Investigators eventually made contact with the female in a nearby apartment. She was found to be in possession of a shaved key, commonly used to steal older model vehicles. She was questioned and made incriminating statements linking her to the theft. The female was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools. Through follow-up investigation the adult male suspect was identified; he is currently at large and being sought on vehicle theft charges.

The Acura was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura GS300 in September 1993 by Lexus of Glendale in California.
