The owner of a Ford F150 pickup contacted the Fresno Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The Fresno PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

About 2 ½ hours after the LoJack was activated, an officer from the Fresno PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Ford to a residence in the 3500 block of Brunswick Avenue in northwest Fresno. The Ford was observed parked in the driveway of a residence; an adult female and male juvenile were standing next to the pickup. Officers contacted the female whereupon she told them that and adult male had just ran from the area upon seeing police approaching. Officers searched the area and detained an adult male about two blocks away. The female told officers that the male had arrived in the Ford a little while before they got there. The female was transported to where the male was being detained. She positively identified the male as the person that had brought the Ford to her home. The female knew the male, having met him several weeks before.

The male was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property; he was later booked in the county jail.

The Ford was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F150 in September 2014 by Lithia Ford in Fresno, California.
