This Mazda Tribute SUV was stolen during the course of a nighttime residential burglary. These crimes occurred in the 19100 block of E. Burnside Street in Gresham. When the theft was discovered it was reported to the Gresham Police Department who verified the report and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mazda.

A Portland Police Department K9 sergeant picked up the silent LoJack signal from the Mazda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the sergeant tracked the Mazda to the 8800 block of N. Columbia Boulevard where it was located abandoned and undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mazda Tribute in January 2003 at El Cajon Mazda in California.
