The owners of a 2005 Lincoln Navigator contacted the Philadelphia Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of Bristol Street in the eastern section of Philadelphia. The Philadelphia PD Radio dispatched an officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the stolen Navigator. When the Navigator could not be located, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged to have the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln.

A short while later investigators from the Philadelphia PD Major Crimes Auto Squad picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigators tracked the signal to the area of 4200 Adams Avenue where the Lincoln was observed parked at the curb. The investigators cautiously approached the Lincoln and determined that same was unoccupied.

The Lincoln was confiscated and towed to Major Crimes Headquarters to be processed for physical evidence.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 Lincoln Navigator at Safford Lincoln Mercury in Bowie, Maryland.
