The owners of a 2000 Honda Accord contacted the Philadelphia Police Department to report that they had discovered their vehicle had been stolen from the area of northeast Philadelphia. The owners called 911 and the Philadelphia Police Radio dispatched an officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the subject vehicle. When the Honda could not be located, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged for the vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Minutes later officers from the Philadelphia PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to a small street in a residential area of northeast Philadelphia. The officers observed the parked Honda and cautiously approached same. After the officers determined the Honda was unoccupied, the vehicle was confiscated for safekeeping and the owner was notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in January 2000 at Burns Honda in New Jersey.
