The owners of a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck contacted the Philadelphia Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of Northeast Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Police Radio dispatched a 15th District officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the subject vehicle. When the officer was unable to locate the Ford, a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later officers from the Philadelphia PD 26th Police District picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to the area of Frankford and Richmond Streets. The officers observed that the Ford was parked at the curb and cautiously approached same determining that Ford was unoccupied.

The Ford was confiscated for safekeeping and the owner was notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F-150 in January 2008 at Apple Ford in Columbia, Maryland.
