A local dealership contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report the theft of a 2015 Ford Mustang that was stolen from their sales lot. Additionally, they had previously reported the theft of five (5) additional vehicles that were stolen off the same lot.
The LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Eight (8) minutes later, patrol officers from the LAPD Van Nuys Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to the area of the 7100 block of Van Nuys Blvd. The officers located the Ford parked in a parking lot. The suspect was taken into custody for auto theft related charges without incident. This suspect and an additional female suspect were connected to the thefts of all six vehicles, which have been recovered (2016 Ford Explorer, 2016 Ford Mustang, 2016 Ford Fusion, 2015 Ford Edge and a 2016 Ford Fusion). The investigation is being conducted by detectives from the LAPD Mission Division.

The Ford Mustang was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in August 2015 at Galpin Ford in North Hills, California.
