The New Jersey owners of a 2009 Toyota Camry were visiting Philadelphia when they discovered that their vehicle had been stolen in the northeast section of the city. The vehicle owners called 911 and the Philadelphia Police Department Radio dispatched a uniformed officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the vehicle owner and then surveyed the area for the Toyota with negative results. The officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Camry.

Minutes later, uniformed officers from the Philadelphia PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to a residential area in northeast Philadelphia. The officers observed the parked Toyota and cautiously approached same. The officers determined that the Toyota was unoccupied and confiscated same for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in May 2008 at Liberty Toyota in Burlington, New Jersey.
