The owners of a 2006 BMW X5 contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen when a customer failed to return the vehicle after a test drive.

The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Later officers from the Tarrant County Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to downtown Ft. Worth locating the BMW parked on the street in front of the probation office. A female subject was asleep in the driver’s seat. The suspect was questioned regarding her possession of the BMW and she stated she had driven to Henderson County, given her boyfriend a ride to his probation office and had fallen asleep while waiting for him to return. The female suspect was arrested and charged with felony theft of the BMW.

The LoJack® System was installed in the2006 BMW in November 2008 at Brecht BMW in Escondido, California.
