The owners of a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro contacted the San Leandro Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stated the she went to the mall in San Leandro and when she returned from shopping the Camaro had been stolen from the mall parking lot.
The San Leandro PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Camaro.

A short while later officers from The San Leandro PD, along with the Oakland Police Department and the San Bruno Police Department, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Camaro with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Camaro to the area of Cletland and Dutton Streets in San Leandro. This is a residential area where the officers observed the Camaro parked and abandoned on the street. The Camaro sustained ignition damage and was towed for safe keeping to be released to the owner later.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Camaro in June 2015 at Dailey Chevrolet in San Leandro, California.
