LoJack® System Helps Bell Police Department Recover Stolen Fiat 500

The owners of a 2015 Fiat 500 contacted the Bell Police Department to report that a known suspect had stolen car keys from their residence and had driven off in the vehicle without permission. The Bell PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Fiat.
Minutes later after activation, officers from the Bell PD and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Air-7 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Fiat with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, Air-7 flight deputies tracked the Fiat to Bell Avenue and California where they located the vehicle parked. Air-7 contacted the Bell PD officers and advised them that they were observing several subjects at the Fiat. The Bell PD officers responded quickly and made contact with a female who was identified as the known suspect. She was arrested and later booked for driving a motor vehicle without owner’s permission. The undamaged Fiat was later released to the victim.
The LoJack® System was pre-installed in the Fiat 500 in February 2015 at Champion Fiat in Downey, CA.
