The owners of a 2006 Honda Civic contacted the Riverbank Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim exited her residence and discovered her Honda had been stolen sometime during the night.
The Riverbank PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later, and hundreds of miles away, officers with the Reno Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to area of 300 N. Virginia Street. The officers observed a female passenger in the parked Honda. The officers approached and detained this individual. Officers then obtained information on the driver and observed him walking near the Honda. He was detained and questioned. After questioning the driver was arrested for auto theft and the female passenger was arrested for outstanding warrants.

The Honda was impounded for safe keeping to be released to the owner later.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in January 2007 at Steve Hopkins Honda in Fairfield, California.
