The owner of a 2006 BMW X5 contacted the Riverside County Sherriff’s Department to report that her vehicle was stolen in Moreno Valley.
The Riverside County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Within 5 minutes deputies from the Riverside County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the BMW to a commercial area located at Elder and Perris Road in Moreno Valley. The Regional Auto Theft Investigators responded and after surveilling the BMW for a short time two suspects were arrested at the scene. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of three other suspects for identity theft.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW X5 in March 2006 at BMW of San Diego in California.
