The owners of a 2005 Jaguar S-Type contacted the Palm Springs Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jaguar.

A short while later officers from the South Pasadena Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jaguar with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Jaguar to their southern city line. They then notified the Alhambra Police Department that the Jaguar was headed into their city, giving the description. A few minutes later a Motorcycle officer observed the Jaguar at Main St and Fifth Ave. The officer notified her dispatch at which time several other units arrived to assist with a felony traffic stop. The officers conducted the stop at Atlantic Ave and Pine St taking the driver into custody without further incident. The driver was later booked for driving a motor vehicle without owner’s permission, a felony. The recovered Jaguar was stored for safe keeping and later released to the owner, undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jaguar S-Type in April 2004 at Galpin Jaguar Lincoln Volvo in Van Nuys, California.
