The owners of a 2006 Toyota Matrix contacted the Kingsburg Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen during the night from in front of their residence. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Later the same day, a deputy from the Kings County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputy tracked the Toyota to the parking lot of a fast food restaurant near 10th Avenue and Grangeville Boulevard in the city of Hanford. The Toyota was found unoccupied and abandoned in the parking lot.

The Toyota was recovered intact and undamaged; it was stored pending release to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Matrix in June 2008 by the Fahrney Automotive Group in Selma, California.
