The owner of a 2002 Honda Civic contacted the Bakersfield Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The Bakersfield PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

About 3 ½ hours after the LoJack was activated, a deputy from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in police vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputy tracked and located the Honda on the southbound on ramp to CA Freeway 99 at White Lane. The Honda was found abandoned on the side of the road. It was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in March 2002 at Anderson Honda in Palo Alto, California.
