The owners of a Honda Accord contacted the Mendota Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The Mendota PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

About 30 minutes after the LoJack was activated, a deputy from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputy tracked the Honda to an alley near Quince and RioFrio Streets in central Mendota. The Honda was found unoccupied and abandoned. The deputy conducted surveillance on the Honda but the thief never returned.

The Honda was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda in June 1999 by Scott Robinson Honda in Torrance, California.
