The owners of a 1997 Honda Accord contacted the Pomona Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their front yard. The Pomona PD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from La Verne Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Honda to San Antonio near the 10 Freeway. Units were alerted to the LoJack (Hit) as the unit closed in on the signal the officer observed the Honda and followed it southbound on San Antonio. As it reached Holt Ave, the Honda pulled into a convenience store parking lot and stopped. Three occupants were detained until back up arrived. Shaved keys (commonly used by car thieves) were found in the Honda. Statements by the male driver were obtained but did not match the two female occupants. The investigation officers learned the male driver was currently on Felony Probation for vehicle theft. All three occupants were transported to La Verne Police Department and booked for driving a vehicle without owner’s permission, a felony. The undamaged Honda was later released to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in September 2002 by Norm Reeves Super Store in Cerritos, California.
