The owners of a 2015 BMW M4 contacted the San Jose Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stated the suspects entered their business, grabbed the keys off of the key board and then took the BMW.

The San Jose PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short while later, deputies from the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department and the contract city of Lathrop picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the BMW to the area of Louise and I-5. The tracking officer requested back up and observed the BMW in a parking lot. The BMW was occupied and the deputies conducted a felony traffic stop. Two suspects were taken into custody without incident. The driver was on parole for auto theft and had just recently been released from prison. The female passenger was also on probation for drugs. Both suspects were arrested and booked.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW M4 in July 2015 by Stevens Creek BMW in Santa Clara, CA.
