The owner of a 2013 Volkswagen Passat contacted the Chula Vista Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in the city of Chula Vista.

The Chula Vista PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volkswagen.

A short while later officers from the Chula Vista PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volkswagen Passat with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Volkswagen to the Otay Ranch neighborhood located at Vista Sonrisa and Caminito Sonrisa in Chula Vista.  A male suspect was seen sitting in the Volkswagen; he was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volkswagen Passat in July 2013 by Commonwealth Volkswagen in Santa Ana, California.
