The owner of a Mercedes Benz 330 contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in the city of San Diego.
The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

Within 10 minutes officers from the San Diego PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to a residential neighborhood located in the 4500 block of Mission Gorge Road Place in San Diego.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes in April 2003 by Cal Star Inc. in Glendale, California.
