The owner of a 2001 Dodge Ram contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster Station to report that his vehicle was stolen. An employee took his Dodge from a work location without permission.

Deputies from the LASD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

Eleven (11) minutes later, patrol deputies from the LASD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Dodge to the area of 2nd Street East and Lancaster Blvd. The stolen Dodge was located and returned to the owner. The suspect was located at his residence and taken into custody for auto theft related charges without incident.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Ram in August 2001 by West Covina Dodge in California.
