The owner of a Honda Civic Del Sol contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to a residential neighborhood located in the 3100 block of Market Street in San Diego.  A traffic stop was made and a suspect was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in November 1997 by Honda of Pasadena in California.
