The owners of a 2004 Volvo C70 convertible contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the street in front of their residence. The owners had been victims of a residential burglary one week prior and the keys to the Volvo were stolen.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volvo.

A short while later, troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volvo with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Volvo to an apartment complex near the State Route 202 and Rural Road in Tempe.
The stolen Volvo was found unoccupied in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force responded to the area and conducted an extended surveillance. The Volvo was later recovered and processed for evidence. The Volvo was returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volvo C70 convertible in June 2003 by Volvo of Orange County, Santa Ana, California.
