The owners of a 2006 Toyota Corolla contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen with the keys, by an unknown recent acquaintance, from the parking lot of a motel.
The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later, officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the area of Interstate 17 and Northern Avenue, in Phoenix.
The stolen Toyota was found less than one mile away from the theft location located unoccupied in the parking lot of another motel. The Toyota was recovered and processed for evidence. The Toyota was later returned to the owner in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in May 2006 by Kearney Mesa Toyota in San Diego, California.
