The owners of a 2003 Ford Explorer contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from their residence by an ex-acquaintance who still had a set of keys to the vehicle.
The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later, an officer from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Ford to a neighborhood where the stolen Ford was found unoccupied on the street. The Ford was recovered and returned to the owners in good condition.
Two days later the owners contacted the Phoenix PD again to report that that the same suspect had stolen their Ford again from their residence. The police later picked up the silent LoJack signal with the PTC and tracked the stolen Ford to an apartment complex near 59th Avenue and Roosevelt Street, in Phoenix. The stolen Ford was again recovered in good condition and returned to the owner.
Both cases have been assigned to the auto theft detectives from the Phoenix PD. The suspect has been identified and additional investigation is being conducted.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Explorer in June 2005by Claremont Ford in California.
