The owners of a 2009 Lincoln MKX contacted the contacted the Citrus Heights Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim exited their residence in the morning and discovered the Lincoln was taken from their driveway sometime during the night.

The Citrus Heights PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln.

Just an hour later, officers from the California Highway Patrol Air 21 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight officers tracked the Lincoln to a ranch off of Dalby Rd north of the city of Lincoln. The officers spotted the Lincoln parked amongst numerous vehicle boats and trailers near two large metal buildings. The officers also observed what appeared to be a large Marijuana grow next to these buildings. As the air unit waited for ground units they observed a male suspect exit a building and he appeared to have binoculars. At this point several males started running and one got in the stolen Lincoln and fled the property. Ground units were directed but the suspect drove into a large walnut grove and under the canopy of the trees he exited the Lincoln and fled on foot. Meanwhile back at the ranch another suspect entered a 2007 Honda CRV and fled. Ground units attempted to follow it but the suspect eluded them and drove onto the Bear River levy where he abandoned the Honda and fled on foot. The Honda was reported stolen from the City of Rocklin one day prior.

Both the LoJack equipped Lincoln and the stolen Honda were impounded and held for prints.

Investigators are continuing their investigation and follow up on the ranch property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lincoln MKX in June 2009 by Galpin Jaguar Lincoln, Van Nuys, California.
