The owners of a 2015 Mazda MZ3 contacted the Ontario Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of the residence while the engine was warming up. Suspect was seen driving off in the Mazda. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mazda.

A short while later officers from the West Covina Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mazda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Mazda to Glendora Ave and Walnut Creek Ave where the vehicle was spotted. The suspect drove the Mazda slowly stopping at stop signs and as he reached the 10 Freeway, he entered and sped up being pursued by the officers. Half way thru the pursuit, the Ontario PD Air-30 flight officers assisted as they traversed the 10 Freeway. The pursuit terminated at Haven Ave and Riverside where the suspect foot bailed from the Mazda and was soon apprehended. The suspect was later booked on numerous felony charges. The Mazda was towed and stored pending release. NOTE: The owner of the Mazda had just purchased this vehicle one month ago.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mazda MZ3 in July 2015 at Riverside Metro Auto in California.
