The owners of a 2000 Honda Civic contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Deputies from the LASD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Seven (7) minutes later, patrol officers from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to the area of the 1400 block of West Vine Street. SANCATT investigators were notified and responded to the location to assist with the investigation. A second stolen 2000 Honda Civic was located and recovered. This investigation is being conducted by SANCATT.

The vehicles were impounded for safe keeping.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in September 2001 by Community Pontiac Honda in Whittier, California.
