LoJack® System Helps Salem Police Department Recover a Stolen Mercedes ML320

This Mercedes ML320 SUV was stolen from the 3900 block of State Street during the evening hours.

The theft was reported to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office who verified the report and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

A Salem Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Mercedes was located at Brown Road NE & Surfwood Drive NE near Salem.
A female suspect in the Mercedes was arrested. It did not appear to be damaged and was released to the owner who purchased it used and was not aware it was equipped with LoJack.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes ML320 in July 1999 at Fletcher Jones Motor Cars in Newport Beach, California.
