The owner of a 2010 Toyota Camry contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen during a “carjacking.” The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Immediately after the activation, the Albuquerque Police Department Auto Theft Detectives picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota in the Foothills Area Command with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their undercover vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Detectives tracked the stolen Toyota to an apartment complex in the area of Chico and Morris and found it to be abandoned. The investigating Robbery Detective arrived on scene to assist in processing the Toyota for evidence.

The Toyota was recovered and will be released to the owner.
