The owner of a 2015 Mini Cooper contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report that her vehicle was stolen in the city of Campo after a domestic dispute.

The San Diego County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mini.

A short while later, officers from the Sycuan Tribal Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mini with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mini to the 500 block of Sycuan Road in El Cajon.  The suspected driver was taken into custody for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, battery, violation of a court order and access of a credit card without consent.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mini Cooper in December 2014 by Escondido BMW in California.
