The owners of a 1996 Saturn SL contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Rancho Station to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Saturn.

Twenty minutes later flight deputies in 40King picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Saturn with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that is installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, 40King tracked the Saturn from south bound Waterman and 9th St to a service station on 6th St and Waterman Ave alerting ground units from the San Bernardino SD Central Station of the area and location. Deputies coordinated the response and made contact with the suspect taking him into custody without further incident.  The suspect was later booked for the vehicle theft.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Saturn SL in March 1996 by Saturn of Kearny Mesa in San Diego, California.
