The owner of a 2000 Lincoln Continental contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen by “armed Car Jack suspects.” Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln.

A short while later officers from the LAPD Southeast division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Lincoln to 92nd St. and Beach St. where they began to follow the Lincoln.  When the suspects reached 103rd and Spring St they pulled to the curb where a felony take down was initiated and they were taken into custody without further incident.  Two suspects were transported to the station and further investigated by Robbery Detectives.  A photo line-up was presented to the victim who positively identified one of the suspects as the person who robbed him at gun point.  The second suspect was questioned and released.  The primary suspect was booked for the “Car Jack” incident. The recovered Lincoln was processed and later released to the victim.  Case cleared and closed.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lincoln Continental in March 2000 by Long Beach Lincoln Mercury in California.
