The owners of a Dodge Dakota contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

Within 30 minutes of the activation, officers from the La Mesa Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Dodge to a commercial neighborhood located in the 800 block of Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa.  The driver and two occupants were arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Dakota in October 2010 by San Diego Dodge in California.
