The owners of a 2005 Ford F350 pickup contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from a business parking lot.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Four minutes later, officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to a motel parking lot near Interstate 17 and Peoria Avenue.

The Ford was found unoccupied in the motel parking lot.  Detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force responded to the area and conducted an extended surveillance.  The Ford was later recovered and processed for evidence.  The auto theft detectives were able to develop an investigative lead and are conducting follow up investigation.  The Ford was towed for safe keeping and later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F350 in April 2005 by Fritts Ford in Riverside, California.
