The owners of a 2005 Dodge Magnum contacted the Sacramento Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stated they had stopped at the intersection of 17th and K Streets when the suspect ran up to the Dodge and forced the victim out of his car. The suspect then fled.

The Sacramento PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

Less than 5 minutes after being entered into the stolen vehicle system officers from the Sacramento PD, West Sacramento Police Department and the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department air unit Star 6 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Dodge to the area around 5th and I streets. The officers located the Dodge parked and abandoned. The officers conducted a search of the area and located a suspect matching the description of the carjacking suspect. The victim was transported to the scene and thru a field lineup identified this as the suspect who stole his Dodge. The suspect was arrested for carjacking and auto theft and booked into the county jail.

The victim took possession of his now recovered Dodge.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Magnum in January 2013 by Thompsons Toyota in Placerville, California.
