The owner of a 2005 Hummer H2 contacted the Rio Rancho Police Department to report that their Hummer was stolen from their residence while hosting a social gathering.  The owner stated he noticed the keys to the Hummer were missing and he could not locate them.  The owner confronted one of the known attendees who denied taking the keys.  A short time later the confronted attendee disappeared along with the Hummer.  The Rio Rancho PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hummer.

A few hours after the activation, the Albuquerque Police Department officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hummer in the Southwest Area Command with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Hummer to a large fenced independent auto dealership lot.  Officers located the stolen Hummer and found a male subject attempting to hide in the driver seat.  Officers gave verbal commands via their public address system for the subject to exit the Hummer and the subject did not comply.  A K9 Officer arrived on scene while Officers were still giving commands for the subject to exit the Hummer.  The male subject did comply and was taken into custody without incident and was identified as the original auto theft suspect.  An Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Detective was requested to the scene and he took over the investigation.

The Hummer was safely recovered and towed from the scene for safe keeping to be reunited with the happy owner at a later date.
