The owners of a 2001 Toyota Solara contacted the Sanger Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen during the night. The Sanger PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Several hours later, a Deputy from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Deputy tracked the Toyota to a ranch near Kings Canyon Road and Piedra Road in eastern Fresno County. The Toyota was found unoccupied at the rear of the property near a trailer. The Deputy spoke with the owner of the ranch who provided the identity of an adult male who lives in the trailer. The ranch owner had no knowledge that the Toyota was stolen. The investigation was turned over to auto theft investigators to determine the involvement of the resident of the trailer.

The Toyota was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota in November 2002 by Tracy Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, in Tracy, California.
