The owners of a 2015 Jeep Cherokee contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

A short time later, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Santa Clarita Station patrol deputies picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Jeep to the area of the 3000 block of Sand Canyon. The Jeep was located, parked on the street and had been abandoned by the suspect.

The Jeep was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep in November 2014 by Rydell Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in San Fernando, California.
