The owners of a Nissan Maxima contacted the Peoria Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the residence.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Four minutes later troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol and officers from the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to the area of 27th Avenue and Northern Avenue in Phoenix.

Auto theft detectives from the Phoenix PD located the Nissan in a parking lot unoccupied.  Detectives conducted surveillance for a few minutes before observing a suspect get into the stolen Nissan.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident.  The suspect was identified as a relative of the victim.  The suspect was arrested and booked into jail on felony warrant charges.  The Nissan was towed from the scene for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in June 1997 by Land Rover South Bay in Redondo Beach, California.
