The owners of a 2004 Honda Pilot contacted the Santa Monica Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The Santa Monica PD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Seven (7) minutes later, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department “Air 21” flight deputies picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the on board LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in air units.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight deputies tracked the Honda to the area of Carlton Way and Wilton Place. Patrol units from the Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood division responded to the location. The officers observed the Honda and conducted a felony traffic stop. The driver was taken into custody for auto theft related charges.

The Honda was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda in August 2004 by Herb Chambers Honda in Seekonk, MA.
