The owner of a Mercedes Benz C320 contacted the Murrieta Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen after her purse was forcibly taken during a carjacking by two suspects in a commercial shopping center at Murrieta Hot Springs road in the city of Murrieta.

The Murrieta PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

A short while later, officers from the Oceanside Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes Benz C320 with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to the area of Oceanside and College Blvd. in Oceanside. A traffic stop was made, both suspects were detained and arrested for carjacking, vehicle theft and possession of stolen property after the elderly victim positively identified them.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes Benz in January 2003 by Mercedes Benz of Laguna Niguel, in California.
