The owners of a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander contacted the Long Beach Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen from a restaurant parking lot.

The Long Beach PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mitsubishi.

A short while later officers from the Long Beach PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mitsubishi with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mitsubishi to a residential street a few blocks from where it was stolen.  The officers located the Mitsubishi abandoned and undamaged.  The LBPD officers contacted the victim and had him respond to their location to take possession of his Mitsubishi.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mitsubishi Outlander in June 2014 by South Coast Mitsubishi in Costa Mesa, California.
