The owners of a 2003 Nissan 350ZX contacted the Hanford Office of the California Highway Patrol to report that their vehicle was stolen in the middle of the night. The CHP verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

About 3 hours after the police entered the Nissan as stolen, an investigator from Fresno HEAT, the Fresno County Auto Theft Task Force, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigator tracked the Nissan to the vicinity of Park and Skelton Streets in Selma, CA. The Nissan was found unoccupied in a residential area. Investigators conducted a surveillance of the Nissan and within minutes, an adult male approached and entered the vehicle. Investigators converged on the Nissan and took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect, a known auto thief currently on parole, was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property and a parole violation.

The Nissan was recovered intact and undamaged; it was stored pending release to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan in July 2003 by Mossy Nissan in Poway, California.
