The owners of a Honda Civic contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Compton deputies to report that their vehicle was stolen by suspects unknown.  Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from the Los Angeles Police Department Newton Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to an alley south of 79th and McKinley and located the vehicle containing one male adult.  The officers deployed on the Honda taking the male into custody without further incident.  Assisting officers arrived and also detained another male and female who were standing next to the Honda.  A field investigation was conducted and it was determined that the second male and female were not involved in the theft and they were released at that time.  The suspect was arrested and later booked for the stolen car violation.  The Honda was later released to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in June 2000 at Honda of Hollywood.
