The owners of a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS called the Berkeley Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their driveway early Friday morning after they received a LoJack Early Warning notification from their LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System.

The Berkeley PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Camaro.

Less than an hour later the Oakland Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Camaro with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Oakland PD officers tracked the Camaro to an Industrial Area in South Oakland where the stolen Camaro was parked abandoned on a side street. The owners of the undamaged Chevrolet Camaro were contacted to recover their vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Camaro SS in October 2014 at F.H. Dailey Chevrolet in San Leandro, California.
