The owner of a 2002 Acura RSX contacted the Anaheim Police Department to report his vehicle was stolen from the front of his residence. The owner left his residence in another vehicle and when he returned home he discovered his Acura missing. When the owner entered his residence he found evidence that led him to believe that an ex-girlfriend had broken into his residence and possibly took his Acura.

The Anaheim PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura. Only three minutes later the Anaheim PD airship “Angel” picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, airship “Angel” tracked the Acura to a residential driveway in the city of Anaheim. Patrol officers responded to the area and set up a surveillance of the Acura. A few minutes later three subjects entered the Acura and drove away. The Acura drove down an alley and stopped. The front passenger exited the Acura and fled and the vehicle then drove off. Assisting officers, with the assistance of airship Angel, were able to locate the fleeing suspect after a foot pursuit. When the fleeing suspect was arrested the officers found him to be in possession of a California Driver License belonging to a female. This female was contacted by the officers and it was determined she was the victim of a vehicle burglary that was reported earlier to Anaheim PD.

The stolen Acura was stopped a short distance later with a female driver who was not the named suspect. The driver stated the named suspect allowed her to use the Acura. Officers returned to the residence where they originally saw the Acura parked in the driveway but were unable to locate the named suspect. The officers located another wanted subject not related to the theft of the Acura. Officers were able to obtain information as to the location of the named suspect and eventually located and arrested her. Three persons were arrested and the undamaged Acura was returned to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura RSX in March 2002 at Metro Acura in Montclair, CA.
